Do I need to book a table?+
No bookings needed — Barossa 50's Diner is walk-in only. Come on down during opening hours, grab a red vinyl booth and we'll look after you. For large groups or functions, send us a message first so we can be ready for you.
Where is the diner and is there parking?+
You'll find us at Shop 3 / 119 Murray Street, right in the heart of Tanunda in the Barossa Valley — about an hour from Adelaide. There's street parking along Murray Street and nearby.
What days are you open?+
We're open Wednesday through Monday and closed on Tuesdays, except during South Australian school holidays when we open 7 days. Hours can vary on public holidays, so check our opening hours or call (08) 8563 2371 if you're making the trip.
Are you open for lunch and dinner?+
Lunch, yes — every day except Tuesday, from midday (11:30am on weekends). For dinner, we trade through to 8pm Thursday to Sunday. On Mondays and Wednesdays we close at 4pm, so those are lunch-and-milkshake days.
Are there vegetarian options?+
Yes — favourites include the Vegas crumbed-vegetable burger and the fried Halloumi burger, plus fries, wedges, smoothies, milkshakes, spiders and sundaes. For any specific dietary question, give us a call and we'll help.
Can I order online or ahead for pickup?+
No — there's no online ordering, and the diner is walk-ins only. Just come on down during opening hours and order at the counter. Prices are on the menu board in store.
Do you do takeaway?+
Yes — takeaway is available. Order at the counter and take it away: burgers, hot dogs, fries, shakes and more. There's no delivery or online ordering, so it's order in store.
Do you sell giftware and merchandise?+
Yes — the diner doubles as a retro gift shop. Browse shelves of Elvis, Betty Boop, Marilyn Monroe and Johnny Cash memorabilia, mugs, collectables and more, plus the American drinks fridge and the in-store ice creamery.
How can I pay?+
We accept both cash and card in-store.
Is it family-friendly?+
Very — we're a proper family restaurant. The spider drinks and thickshakes are a hit with the kids, and there's room to spread out in the booths or the outdoor seating.
Is it worth the drive from Adelaide?+
Our regulars think so — plenty of people drive 1.5 to 2 hours just for a burger and a thickshake. Pair it with a day out in the Barossa Valley and make an afternoon of it.
