The Barossa Valley does world-class winery dining — but if you're travelling with kids, dodging a degustation, or just want a proper burger and a thickshake, Barossa 50's Diner is the easy answer. We're an authentic 1950s American diner and family restaurant on Murray Street in Tanunda: checkerboard floors, neon, red vinyl booths and a menu of burgers, hot dogs, loaded fries, milkshakes, spider drinks and old-school ice creamery favourites.
We're also open when a lot of the Barossa isn't. Many cellar doors and winery restaurants wind down mid-afternoon — the diner serves lunch every day except Tuesday, and trades through to 8pm for dinner Thursday to Sunday. There are no bookings: walk in, grab a booth (or the outdoor seating), order at the counter and settle in. Before you leave, browse the retro American gift shop — Elvis, Betty Boop and Marilyn Monroe memorabilia included.

Booths, milkshakes, spider drinks and a jukebox soundtrack — the diner is built for families, not just tolerant of them.
