How Takeaway Works at the Diner
It's the old-fashioned way, and it's simple:
- Come in during opening hours. No bookings, no app.
- Check the menu board above the counter and order.
- Pay by cash or card.
- Wait while it's made to order, then take it away.
We don't take online orders, we don't deliver, and we don't take orders ahead for pickup. Everything is ordered in store, which keeps it simple for us and means your food is made fresh while you wait. If you'd rather stay, there's indoor dining and outdoor seating.
"Do You Have a Menu With Prices?"
It's one of the most common questions we get, so here's the straight answer. Our full menu is online and lists every item across 14 sections: Burgers, Hot Dogs, Meals & More, Salads, Toasties, Loaded Fries, Smoothies, Milkshakes & Thickshakes, Frappes, Spiders, Desserts, Ice Creams, Coffee & Hot Drinks, American Drinks. What you won't find online is prices. They live on the menu board in store, and that board is the one to go by.
If you want to check the price of something before you head in, give us a call on (08) 8563 2371. As a rough guide for planning, typical spend is around $20 to $40 per person.
What to Order for Takeaway
Some easy picks for eating on the go or back at your accommodation:
- Burgers: from the Houston (double cheese, pickles, ketchup and mustard) to the Kentucky chicken schnitzel burger and two vegetarian options. Our burger guide breaks them all down.
- Hot dogs: 11 of them, including the New York, the Detroit with house-made mac and cheese, and the Elvis Dog.
- Hand-held meals: the burrito, the Philly steak roll and the steak sandwiches (plain or the lot).
- Fish and chips: crumbed or battered, with tartare sauce.
- Sides: fries in small, large or XL, wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli, onion rings, and nuggets for the kids.
- Something cold: a thickshake or milkshake, a smoothie, a frappe, or a bottle from the American drinks fridge.

Takeaway Hours
Takeaway is available any time we're open:
- Monday: 12:00 – 4:00pm
- Tuesday: Closed
- Wednesday: 12:00 – 4:00pm
- Thursday: 12:00 – 8:00pm
- Friday: 12:00 – 8:00pm
- Saturday: 11:30am – 8:00pm
- Sunday: 11:30am – 8:00pm
We're closed on Tuesdays, except during South Australian school holidays when we open 7 days. Thursday to Sunday we trade until 8pm, so takeaway dinner is sorted on those nights. Hours can vary on public holidays.
Finding Us
We're at Shop 3 / 119 Murray Street, right in the middle of Tanunda, with street parking along Murray Street and nearby. From Nuriootpa it's about a 7-minute drive (see our Nuriootpa page), and from Angaston about 10 minutes (Angaston page). Look for the red and white checkered front.
